The English Lake District
The Lake District is the biggest and most visited National Park in England. It was established in 1951 and boasts the most magnificent scenery, including England's highest mountain and the biggest and deepest lakes.
Approximately 42,000 people live within the 880 square miles of the Lake District National Park. Over 19 million tourists visit the English Lake District every year, most coming between March and October to see the magnificent scenery and cultural sites in the Spring, Summer and Autumn seasons. During the Winter season, many tourists visit to enjoy the culture, history, peace and tranquillity of the beautiful landscape away from the crowds and bustle of the peak seasons.
