Brontë Tours from London by Train

Brontë tours from London

You don't need a car to see the Lake District from London. Direct trains run from London Euston to Oxenholme Lake District on the West Coast Main Line, which makes the Lakes a realistic trip for visitors based in London. Our rail tours meet you at the station and take you straight into the Yorkshire moors with a local guide.

Our Brontë tours cross the Pennines from the Lake District to Haworth and the moors that shaped Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë, on a full day with a specialist guide.

The Brontës' Haworth

The Brontë family moved to the parsonage at Haworth in 1820, and it was there, in 1847, that Charlotte's Jane Eyre, Emily's Wuthering Heights and Anne's Agnes Grey were published. The house is now the Brontë Parsonage Museum, and the moorland behind it is still the landscape of Wuthering Heights. Our tour takes in the Parsonage, Ponden Hall, Wycoller Hall and the moors, in a small group of no more than six, with a separate driver and guide.

What you'll see

Coming from London by train

Our rail tours start at Oxenholme Lake District or Windermere station. Your guide meets you outside the ticket office, and the tour brings you back to the station at the end. Each rail date shows the station and the pickup time.

Many guests make it a long day out; others spend a night or two in Windermere or Bowness and join more than one tour.

A small group or a private tour

Our shared tours are small groups of no more than six, priced per person, for ages 7 and up. A private tour is for your group alone, at one price for up to six guests and with no age limit, and can collect you from your hotel in the Windermere or Ambleside areas.

Brontë tours from other places

These tours also start from Windermere, Coniston and Oxenholme. See all our Brontë tours.
