Where to stay

The Lake District has all types of accommodation located all over the National Park area. There are spectacular luxury hotels, homely family run hotels, very posh bed and breakfast establishments, quaint little guest houses and budget priced hostels, it all depends on your preference and budget.

Most people who book our tours tend to stay in the southern lakes, the three most popular locations being Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside. You might also consider the busy village of Grasmere, just north of Ambleside. If you are arriving by train and don't want to stay in the centre of things, Oxenholme is ideal as it is on the mainline train track and convenient for London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow.

If you want to stay further north in the Lakes then Keswick is a great location too but harder to get to without a car. We run a limited selection of tours from Keswick.
